The most effective treatment for ROP is laser therapy. In our practice we use pattern retinal laser photocoagulation at optimal postnatal age in babies (no more than 2 months)
PROGRESSIVE MYOPIA IN CHILDREN
In our clinic we use several effective methods to reduce the progression
LASIK AND PHOTOREFRACTIVE KERATECTOMY
Surgical procedures performed with the Excimer laser are used in our country since 1988 to treat nearsightedness, astigmatism and farsightedness.
The decision to undergo the laser vision correction is a personal one.
Before considering the surgery visit our eye specialist for a consultation and thorough examination.
Contraindications include several active ocular diseases: chronic eye inflammations and degenerations glaucoma corneal dystrophies progressing myopia
Other contradictions: diabetes connective tissues diseases under 18 years of age mental diseases pregnancy and lactation
You should avoid wearing contact lenses for 2 week before the procedure and have tests on AIDS, RW, hepatitis B and C.
There are two methods of laser correction - PRK and LASIK.
PRK In PRK, the laser is present to vaporize or remove portions of tissue on the surface of the cornea. Areas of tissue which are ablated cause the cornea to flatten in those same areas, reducing the prescription required to see clearly.
PRK is performed under local anesthesia. The procedure itself takes only a few minutes. Then, regular follow-up visits are essential to monitor your progress. There are some restrictionc, patients should avoid visiting swimming pools, alcohol, hormonal medications, taking sun-baths.
Vision may fluctuate for several weeks to several months.
The PRK procedure
LASIK Lasik stands for Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis and is the most common type of laser vision correction procedure. Lasik represents the combination of two procedures: making a corneal flap and sculpting the cornea under the flap with a laser. In the first step, the surgeon uses the instrument called a microkeratome to make a hinged corneal flap. The flap is is folded back exposing the bed of the cornea. In the second step, a cool laser beam sculpts the curvature of the exposed corneal by evaporating tissue.
