"Eye Microsurgery" Federal State Institution, Kaluga

Ophthalmologists from "Eye Microsurgery", Kaluga were invited to share their experience in the Serbia and Montenegro Military Medical Academy Hospital in Belgrade (VMA) - one of the most prestigious medical institutions in the country. Russian surgeons performed eye operations on patients suffering from various eye diseases - cataract, glaucoma, eye trauma, progressing myopia. A real time "live" surgery was demonstrated for a big audience (more than 280 ophthalmologists from Yugoslavia). Press conference for Serbian journalists took place right after the operation day in VMA.

This event is a great step in cooperation of 2 countries in treating Serbian patients. Our delegation was also invited to the 162th VMA Anniversary celebration attended by prominent Serbian social, political and public figures.
Return visit to "Eye Microsurgery" Kaluga Clinic of VMA Head Major General Miodrag Jevtic and Head of VMA Ophthalmological Department Miroslav Vukosavlievic is planned for April 2006.

On February 21-23, 2006 the International Conference was held in Harbin within the framework of the measures of the Government of the Russian Federation on realization of the Year of Russia in People's Republic of China. The Conference was organized by the IRTC “Eye Microsurgery”, the Medical University of Harbin and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in China.
The speakers characterized the Conference as the “continuation of the long-term friendly connections of the doctors of Russia and China”, “the important event in ophthalmology and in relations of both countries”.

The leading doctors and scientists of the IRTC “Eye Microsurgery” and of the People's Republic of China took part in the Conference. The Russian delegation presented 17 lectures and presentations, and 12 were from the Chinese part.
On February 18, 2006 was three years since the moment of the opening of the Joint Russian-Chinese Ophthalmologic Center in the People's hospital in Datsin. During this period of the Center the specialists treated over 70 thousands patients (among them 18 thousand children under 14 years of age) and almost 8 thousand highly technological operations were preformed for the patients with severe eye pathology.

First eye surgeries in Belgrade (Serbia) A close cooperation between Yugoslavian ophthalmological center "Eliksir" and Kaluga Clinic "Eye Microsurgery" has taken place for many years. Now our Russian specialists with exceptional experience in the treatment of eye diseases will provide professional eye care services in "Klinika Una", Belgrade (phone 011/309-6215, 309-6214). The first operation day of our ophthalmologists in Belgrade showed excellent surgery results: 10 operations were performed - 6 cataract phacoemulsifications and 4 scleroplasties. Now our professional help is available for Yugoslavian patients.

Furthermore, our delegation visited Military Medical Academy in Belgrade, a unique institution in this country with a great experience and tradition. Serbian colleagues introdused their experience in eye diseases treatment. This is a new step in a good partnership between our specialists and Serbian ophthalmologists.
