Corneal disorders make up 25 % of eye diseases and sometimes
cause blindness and drop of sight.
Cornea is a front part of the eye; there are no blood
vessels in the cornea, it is a transparent, homogeneous
tissue with a smooth and mirror surface. It performs protective
and supportive function and it serves as a powerful refracting
surface of the eye optic system.
Corneal disorders are very various. The most common ones are
corneal inflammations (keratitis) which have different forms
and they can reduce visual clarity and cause partial or total
loss of sight. In most cases keratitis and keratoconjunctivitis
are provoked by viral or bacterial infections; mycotic keratitis
is more rare.
Corneal dystrophy and degeneration can be primary or secondary.
Primary dystrophies are developed from local and general
metabolism's disfunction and secondary - after keratitis,
traumas and eye burns.
To prevent serious complications of corneal infections
you need the right diagnostics and appropriate local and
general treatment. Different medicines such as drops and
injections are used for local treatment. There are also
such methods of treatment as phonophoresis, electrophoresis,
laser theurapy.
In our sabsidiary there are all the necessary possibilities
to make the diagnostics, to treat or prevent different complications
of corneal desorders. Sometimes after keratitis despite
the treatment there are some opacities of different intensity.
The treatment of patients with corneal spots is ineffective,
so surgical operations (keratoplasty) can be performed.
When there are refraction anomalies such as myopia, longsightedness,
astigmatism the surgery using the most perfect technology makes
it possible to restore eyesight.
